First Time in The Land of the Free (America)

After months of preparation, we will be going to the USA "The Land of the Free".

Our plane ticket off to Hongkong - our connecting flight to Chicago. Boarding Cathay Pacific CX904 April 22 departs at 06:20.

My boys preparing for take-off. Bye Philippines (for now). See you soon.

Landed at Hongkong after 2 hours. Thank you Cathay Pacific for the same trip.

Our plane ticket off to Chicago. Boarding United Airline UA 896. Departs at 11:50AM.

After 16 long hours of sitting on the airplane, we finally (Thanks GOD) arrived safe and sound at Chicago O'Hare Airport.

Welcome to Chicago!

All about me

My family call me "Joy", my friends call me "Marianne", and my in-laws call me "Anne". To introduce myself well, I am Marianne Joy Escarlan-Bacani born 3rd of July at Tondo, General Hospital. I came from a family of 6, and the eldest among 4 kids (3 girls and 1 boy). I finished an engineering degree (BS Electrical Engineering) at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (where I met my husband).

I got married at an early (I think) age of 23, on the day before my 24th birthday. We used to be classmates in some classes because I'm an irregular student coming from different school during my first year in college. I've been married for 6 years to a very loving, caring, supportive and spoiler husband. And also that same year (2005) God bless us with a wonderful kids, eldest is named Sean Matai which means "God's gracious gift". By that time, I used to be a hands-on mom for quite sometime because I don't have a work then. And by 2006, when Sean was only 8-months old, I got a job in an engineering firm. It was a hard time for me to decide whether to accept the job or to just stay at home taking care of my little boy and my husband. And with the permission of my husband, I accepted the job, leaving my little boy to my in-laws.

By year late 2007, I got pregnant but sad thing happen. I got miscarriage because base on my ultrasound, they didn't saw any heartbeat even though it was already past 1month. During those time I got depressed because I'm blaming myself for what happen because I still choose to work even if the doctor says that I should rest. And after that miscarriage, I have to rest for two months. And while, I was still on-leave from work, I got pregnant again. And by 2008, I gave birth to my third baby named Sohan Malik which means "Handsome King". I still manage to work and at the same time be a mom, and a wife. But sad part is, my youngest always got sick so I have to be on-leave during those time. I thought that maybe its because I was not taking care of my kids then because I just leave them to a nanny. After much discussion with my husband I agreed to stay-at-home mom.

I give-up my job because I realize that my husband, my kids and my family is far more important to me. I realize that what most important is for me to take care of my kids rather than have a nanny. I realize that nothing compare to being a mom than being an employee. This starts my life of being a STAY-AT-HOME mom.
